PILGRIMAGE WALK
12 July 2008
Pilgrimage walk from Old Sarum to the Cathedral
A pilgrimage walk takes place on the 12th July celebrating both Salisbury Cathedral’s 750th anniversary and the 35th anniversary of the special link between the Diocese of Salisbury and the Episcopal Church of Sudan.
Starting at 10:30 at the site of the Old Norman Chathedral of Old Sarum, there will be dance, artwork, drama and music with marching bands. The pilgrimage will end at 2pm at the Cathedral with a celebratory service for the 750th Anniversary and a blessing of the new statue of Canon Ezra, a Sudanese martyr, carved by stonemason Jason Battle. Visiting Bishops from Sudan will take part in this significant event, and we welcome many parish and youth groups from across Wiltshire and Dorset.
